Service Categories
Categories help you organise your services into logical groups, making it easier for customers to find what they're looking for on your booking page.
Why Use Categories
If you offer more than a few services, categories help customers navigate your offerings:
Without categories:
- 60 Minute Swedish Massage
- 30 Minute Swedish Massage
- Deep Tissue Massage
- Hot Stone Massage
- Classic Facial
- Anti-Aging Facial
- Manicure
- Pedicure
- Gel Manicure
With categories:
Massage — 60 Minute Swedish, 30 Minute Swedish, Deep Tissue, Hot Stone
Facials — Classic Facial, Anti-Aging Facial
Nails — Manicure, Pedicure, Gel Manicure
On your booking page, categories can be displayed as tabs, pills, or a dropdown — configured in your booking page settings.
Creating Categories
To create a new category:
- Go to Services in the left sidebar
- Click Categories
- Click Add Category
- Enter a name for the category
- Optionally add a description
- Click Save
Each category in the list shows:
- Category name (with folder icon)
- Description (if set)
- Number of services assigned
- Default badge (if set as the default category)
- Inactive badge (if deactivated)
Assigning Services to Categories
To assign a service to one or more categories:
- Edit the service
- Find the Assign to Categories section in Advanced Settings
- Select the categories this service should appear under
- Save
A service can belong to multiple categories. For example, a "Hot Stone Massage" could appear under both "Massage" and "Premium Treatments".
Reordering Categories
Drag the grip handle on each category to reorder them. The order determines how categories appear on your booking page.
Changes save automatically after you drop a category into its new position.
Managing Categories
Default Category
You can set one category as the default. This is the category shown first when customers visit your booking page.
To set a default:
- Click the actions menu on a category
- Select Set as Default
Activating and Deactivating
Deactivate a category to hide it (and its services) from your booking page:
- Click the actions menu on a category
- Select Deactivate
Deactivated categories show an "Inactive" badge and appear with reduced opacity in your admin view. Reactivate them the same way.
Deleting a Category
To delete a category:
- Click the actions menu on a category
- Select Delete
- Confirm the deletion
You cannot delete a category that has services assigned to it. Remove the services from the category first (by editing each service), then delete the empty category.
