Tags
Tags are colour-coded labels you apply to contacts to organise them into groups. Use tags to identify customer types, filter your contact list, and trigger automations.
What Are Tags
Tags are simple labels like "VIP", "New Customer", or "Corporate" that you attach to contact profiles. Each tag has a name, colour, and optional description.
Common uses:
| Tag | Purpose |
|---|---|
| VIP | High-value or long-term customers |
| New Customer | First-time visitors |
| Corporate | Business/company bookings |
| Referred | Came through referral |
| Lapsed | Haven't visited recently |
Tags appear as coloured badges throughout the app — on the contacts list, contact profiles, and filter dropdowns.
Creating Tags
To create a new tag:
- Go to Tags in the left sidebar (under CRM)
- Click Create Tag
- Fill in the details:
| Field | Required | Description |
|---|---|---|
| Name | Yes | Short label (e.g., "VIP", "New Customer") |
| Colour | Yes | Pick from the palette or enter a hex code |
| Description | No | Explains when to use this tag |
- A live preview shows how the tag badge will look
- Click Save
The tag list displays as a table showing each tag's badge, description, and the number of contacts assigned.
Text colour on the badge is automatically calculated for contrast — dark text on light backgrounds, white text on dark backgrounds.
Tagging Customers
Tags are managed from the Tags tab on a contact's profile.
To add a tag:
- Open the contact's profile
- Click the Tags tab
- Click Add Tag
- Select from your available tags (tags already assigned are excluded)
- The tag is applied immediately
To remove a tag:
- Open the contact's profile
- Click the Tags tab
- Click the remove button on the tag you want to remove
Automatic tagging:
Tags can be applied automatically through automations. When a tag is added to a contact, it triggers a contact_tagged event that can be used to chain further actions.
All tag additions and removals are logged in the contact's Activity timeline with the user who made the change.
Filtering by Tag
Use tags to find specific groups of customers in your contact list.
To filter contacts by tag:
- Go to Contacts
- Click the tag filter dropdown
- Select one or more tags
- The list shows only contacts with the selected tags
Each tag in the filter dropdown shows:
- Colour indicator
- Tag name
- Number of contacts with that tag
You can also navigate directly to a filtered contact list from the tags management page by clicking the contact count or using the View Contacts action.
Managing Tags
The Tags List
Go to Tags in the left sidebar to see all your tags in a table:
| Column | Description |
|---|---|
| Tag | Colour badge with name |
| Description | What the tag is for |
| Contacts | Number of contacts with this tag (clickable) |
| Actions | Edit, View Contacts, Delete |
Editing a Tag
- Click the actions menu on a tag
- Select Edit Tag
- Update the name, colour, or description
- Save
Deleting a Tag
- Click the actions menu on a tag
- Select Delete Tag
- Confirm the deletion
Deleting a tag removes it from all contacts that have it assigned. This does not delete any contact data.
System tags (created automatically by the platform) cannot be edited or deleted.
